Please, stop killing us.

“We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice...” Recognize these words? The preamble of the constitution of the United States is one sentence that includes everything this country stands for. The very beginning of this sentence speaks of justice, yet we find ourselves in a position where we are protesting to be justified. The Black Community mourns the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and so many others, why? Justice has not been served.

We’ve all seen it. For days, we’ve been unable to ignore the blatant cries and the candid agony of the Black Community. We have all witnessed, either first hand, via social media, or through the news outlets how millions of people globally are responding to the unfair treatment of Black people.

There are no easy ways to justice and there is no time limit on how long it will take us to heal. We do not have to feel rushed nor threatened by other races and their agenda. We have rights too, and we want them to be equal. We have a voice too, and we want it to be heard. We have lives too, and we want them to be saved. We want them to be valued equally.

Please, stop killing us.
